In November 2013, Jhené Aiko released her debut EP “Sail Out” as a holdover for fans until the arrival of her debut album “Souled Out.” Aiko won’t have fans waiting longer, though. She recently sat down with VIBE magazine and told the urban publication “Souled Out” would drop this summer.
“May 2014, ‘Souled Out,” said the Def Jam artist.
Aiko made it clear the album would fall inline with the direction of her debut EP. “With the album it’s definitely going be more songs in that same vain of me just really not second guessing what I’m saying,” she said. “Not a lot of actual writing on paper but me just going into the studio and just like saying how I feel.”
Following the details on her album’s release date and its content, Aiko shared how “unexpected” the response was to her “Sail Out” EP and her favorite track from it.
“Comfort Inn Ending,” she said. “It was the most raw and I think the most honest I had ever been on a song.”
Her “Sail Out” EP debuted No.8 on the Billboard 200, selling 33,895 copies in its first week. The EP now stands at No.49 on the Billboard 200 and No.6 on the Billboard R&B Album chart.
