Columbia Records recording artist Leon Bridges visited our friends at NPR Music for an intimate concert. The soul singer performed a few songs off his debut album, Coming Home, as part of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert.
Backed by a background singer and a small band, the 26-year-old kicked of his acoustic set with his first single “Coming Home.” After making an impressive introduction, Bridges picked up his guitar to perform “Smooth Sailin.”
The third song, “Twistin & Groovin,” was inspired by his grandparents. “I wrote this next song about how my grandparents met,” he said. “My grandfather said the first time he saw my grandmother at a little party, the first thing he noticed was the long legs.”
Bridges closed his set with “River,” a song he wrote in his garage.
Coming Home, the album, is available now.
