Get your tissues ready. Baltimore-raised crooner Dijon shared his new song and accompanying video “Crybaby :*(.”
A hook-heavy track, “Crybaby :*(“ opens up to distorted piano riffs and bass, eventually leading to lively chants reminiscent of emotional torch songs of the 1990s: “(You know I could be a cry baby) / Crying out to you and stuff.”
Directed by Jack Karaszewski, the video for “CRYBABY :*(“ is a gripping three-minute cut filmed entirely with a still camera, resulting in a bizarrely modern stop-motion experience.
“Thank you @twoinchpunch @bongoboy3 @flan_egg for encouraging this to exist and pushing me to have more fun and throwing the most bizarre ideas into this little song,” Dijon shared via Instagram about the song’s release.
The song follows the fleetingly tender single “Good Luck” and builds from the intimate blueprint he laid out on his debut EP Sci Fi 1, delving into a more immediate and visceral R&B space.
