Rising R&B singer SiR has teamed up with Amazon Music to produce a mini documentary titled Silly for the Westside.
The five-minute film is a tribute to his hometown Inglewood, California, and the Westside of Los Angeles. In the clip he talks about his love for the city, the changes he has seen in the city and how it inspired his latest album, Chasing Summer.
“Where I grew up, it doesn’t look like ‘the hood’ that people think Inglewood is. And it’s not,” he says. “The beautiful homes. Trees. The smell; you can almost smell the beach. Fresh. And even with Compton and Watts. Those places, they’re beautiful. There’s just tons of churches and congregations that make up a whole different side of the city that nobody really sees.”
The Top Dawg Entertainment signee also shares his thoughts on different issues that impact residents in the area, including the construction of SoFi Stadium at Hollywood Park.
“During the time when they were first starting the development of the stadium, I remember hearing the first explosion where they were tearing down the old Hollywood Park Casino,” he says. “I can’t tell if it’s a good thing or a bad thing yet. But there’s no place like home.”
In other news, SiR is gearing up for his Summer Forever Tour that kicks off in December.
