There is so much to love about sequels, especially when they’re done right. Brandy Haze had the formula for Silhouette, Vol. 2, her latest project, to stand mighty as its 2021 predecessor.
The lead song, “Need To Know,” is Haze’s response to a prying past interest who’s tight in the face because he can’t keep tabs on what she is doing post him.
But for Haze, it appears that she gives in just a bit on “Swing My Way,” where she teases him with just a sample of what he could have if he gets honest with her.
The five-track EP features the focus track “Anxious,” where Haze vibes out finding a confidant in a man getting out of a toxic relationship. Understanding that she’s let her guard down with him to build herself up after heartbreak, she’s nervous about letting him know she wants out of their situation.
A hopeless romantic, “Sirens,” hears Haze coasting over a nocturnal backbeat about keeping an eye out for the distress signals from a dude she wants to be hers.
The closing track, “Voodoo,” is the strongest of the suite, from the dark piano keys and lush and lovely vocals that are attacked with seductive phrasing.
In tandem with releasing Silhouette, Vol. 2, Haze dropped a music video for “Anxious.” Watch it below.
Haze released Silhouette, Vol. 2 less than a year after dropping That’s Unfortunate, an EP that arrived last August.
