Justin Timberlake is feeling down on love on his new single, “Drown.” He co-wrote the track with Kenyon Dixon, Amy Allen, and the song’s co-producers Louis Bell and Cirkut.
On the somber tune, a crestfallen Timberlake laments the betrayal of unrequited love. He’s disappointed not only in his partner but also in himself for ignoring the red flags early on.
“It’s about to break ’cause / You showed me exactly who you are / And I should’ve believed it / You left me alone, out in the dark / With all of your demons / Got caught up in the tide of all the tears you cried / Yеah, you know I was blinded by my heart / Sinking from the start,” Timberlake sings.
“Drown” is the latest offering from Timberlake’s new album, Everything I Thought It Was, out March 15 on RCA Records. The 18-track album will also include the lead single “Selfish” and “Sanctified” featuring Tobe Nwigwe. He debuted the latter song on Saturday Night Live last month.
Everything I Thought It Was is the follow-up to Timberlake’s 2018 album, Man of the Woods.
Timberlake will support his forthcoming album on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, which kicks off April 29 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The music star will perform across North America this spring/summer, hitting Seattle, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Tampa, Miami and more, before wrapping up July 9 in Lexington, Kentucky.
On July 26, Timberlake will launch the Europe/U.K. leg in Krakow, Poland. The 13-city trek will make additional stops in Berlin, Manchester, London, Munich, and Stockholm before concluding on Sept. 6 in Décines, France. Tickets go on sale March 1.
Timberlake will launch the second North American leg this fall, visiting Brooklyn, Washington, D.C., Toronto, Orlando, Memphis, and more. The tour will conclude Dec. 16 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Tickets for the North American shows are available at Timberlake’s official website.
