“Vegas, I’m coming back to town with a new show!!” Carey wrote in a social media post.
Carey’s Las Vegas residency announcement comes on the heels of her appearance at the 66th Grammy Awards, where she presented the award for Best Pop Solo Performance, which went to Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers.’
Ahead of the Grammys, Carey was honored with the Recording Academy Global Impact Award at the third annual Recording Academy Honors, presented by the Black Music Collective. Lenny Kravitz was also a recipient of the Global Impact Award.
The award honors “Black music creators whose dedication to the art form has greatly influenced the industry and whose legacy of service inspires countless individuals worldwide, celebrating those who, through leadership and passion, empower others to embrace their authentic selves and contribute to positive change.”
“It was an honor to celebrate the incomparable careers of Mariah and Lenny as this year’s class of Recording Academy Global Impact Award Honorees,” said Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy. “This extraordinary group of icons has not only entertained millions around the world but has also paved the way for future generations of artists to push the boundaries of creative expression. As the Recording Academy Honors enters its third year, I couldn’t be prouder to see it flourish and solidify its impactful presence during GRAMMY week.”
