Genre-bending artist DRAM is back with his new album, DRAM&B, released independently on his label Waver Records.
The 10-track set was preceded by the singles “When She Call” featuring Ellis Quinn and “Marry Me.”
DRAM&B is doused with endearing songs that are warm and radiant like a golden summer day. “This album was made with the intention to uplift your mood and make you dance; I hope it does just that,” shares DRAM.
Opening with “Of Course,” which DRAM co-produced with eK! and Poseidon, he wastes no time to declare his devotion to a lover who has been by his side through his ups and downs. “I want everybody to know that you my girl / I want the whole wide world to know,” he croons.
He further expresses his affection on “Te Amo,” singing the entire ballad in Spanish. “Te llevo en mi corazón, mi amor / Te necesito a mi lado,” he sings, which translates to “I carry you in my heart, my love / I need you in my life.”
Songs like “Marry Me” and “Feel Good” are two-step grooves that can light up a dance floor. “When you rub my chest, it feel good / When I kiss your neck, it feel good,” DRAM sings in the latter track.
While DRAM&B mostly explores love’s sunny side, “Back & Forth” delves into friction within a relationship, and the following track, “Footprints,” hears him pleading for his woman to stay.
DRAM&B follows 2022’s What Had Happened Was…, which featured an appearance from BJ The Chicago Kid on “PPL.”
“WHHW… has been my personal therapy, and I hope it brings comfort to anyone who can relate,” DRAM told Fader. “It encapsulates the mix of raw emotions that I’ve been dealing with on my own for some time now. It’s dark, it’s fun, it’s triumphantly sexy, but most importantly, it’s a classic.”
