Khalid is on the move. The alt-R&B star turned up the heat on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night (Sept. 9), performing “Heatstroke.”
Donning a black outfit, with stencil designs, the El Paso, Texas, native, accompanied by a band and two dancers, brought the vibes as many of us relish in the last days of summer.
“Heatstroke” is Khalid’s latest radio single, climbing six spots to No. 35 this week on Mediabase’s Top 40 radio chart, with 1070 spins and an audience of 1.2 million.
On Billboard, “Heatstroke,” produced by John Hill and Psymun, debuts at No. 35 on the Pop Airplay chart, led by Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” for a second straight week.
Furthermore, on Spotify, “Heatstroke” is one of Khalid’s top 10 popular songs, with 11.5 million streams at the time of publication.
“Heatstroke” is the fourth single from Khalid’s third album, Sincere, which was released Aug. 2 via Right Hand Music Group/RCA Records.
The 16-track album also includes the previously shared singles “Please Don’t Fall In Love With Me,” “Adore U,” and “Ground.”
Sincere features a collaboration with the up-and-coming British singer and songwriter Arlo Parks.
“This album is a combination of my life experiences and the conversations that I’ve had with my fans, supporters, and loved ones. I was inspired by real life experiences and dealing with the obstacles that come with growth and adulthood,” Khalid said of Sincere.
“When I listen to this album, I hear a sound that is unique to me. Sincere is me at 26, and I believe it truly solidifies myself as an artist and is me at my best,” the Grammy-nominated singer added.
Upon its release, Sincere debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart.
With 17,380 equivalent units sold in week one, the album also opened at No. 11 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, No. 43 on the Billboard 200, and No. 83 on the Canadian Albums charts.
