R&B singer Jacquees and melodic rapper DeJ Loaf have joined forces once again for a new track “Just Another Love Song.” It’s the first offering from their upcoming joint project, F**k A Friendzone 2.
On the Nash B-produced track, Jacquees and DeJ Loaf trade verses about developing romantic feelings for a friend.
“You got what I need / I got what you need / We know wе should be in love / Let’s go out in public, baby, we can’t keep on running, no, no / I can get used to this,” Jacquees sings in verse one.
DeJ Loaf responds in the second verse, singing, “Why the hell I fall in love when we supposed to be friends? / If I could rate your love, it’d be ten out of ten.”
Jacquees and DeJ Loaf’s upcoming F**k A Friendzone 2 is the sequel to their 2017 mixtape. The latter project included their hit “At The Club,” which was also featured on the soundtrack for Before Anythang: The Cash Money Story.
The RIAA platinum-certified hit peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs and No. 6 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
F**k A Friendzone also included other popular tracks such as “You Belong To Somebody Else,” “Make You Fall In Love” and “Waves.”
“It was real dope working with DeJ on this project,” Jacquees told Fader in 2017. “I ain’t never went in the studio with nobody and created a vibe like this… The music we created is that real feel good music. I couldn’t wait for the fans to hear and feel like it’s another level for me in my career and a sound people not expecting from her. I hope everybody enjoys it as much as we do.”
DeJ added, “As an artist, it’s often rare but always refreshing to go into the studio with another creative and have great energy. I’ve watched Jacquees grow as an artist and I’m excited to collaborate with him on this project. He has a major career ahead of him and I’m happy to play a part.”
After releasing F**k A Friendzone, the musical pair teamed up for “Red Light” from Jacquees’ debut album, 4275, released in 2018 via Cash Money Records.
In other music-related news, the Atlanta native recently released his fourth album, Baby Making. In an interview with Rated R&B, Jacquees explained the inspiration behind the project.
“Me turning into a new father. I had to lock in, you dig? I turned into a new daddy and that’s what the music reflects,” he said. “I was always making music about sex, but then I would make love songs. It wasn’t together. Now, I got it where it’s together. This album is about making love and creating babies.”
