Adrian Marcel has released his new single “Slide.”
On the Sonny B. production, Marcel laments about his shortcomings that fractured a relationship with someone he cares deeply about. Throughout the bluesy track, he takes accountability for his actions, pleads for forgiveness, and aches for reconnection.
“I should have been there for is / Instead I took you for granted / I’m in this bed all alone / And I need you right next to me / So when I call your phone / I need you to slide,” Marcel croons.
Speaking on his new single, Marcel tells Rated R&B, “‘Slide’ was created to be as relatable as possible through the lyrics and tone of the music. We discussed heartbreak and mistakes and how we could dive deep into that masculine vulnerability of a man taking his accountability and fighting to get his woman back.”
He adds, “We wanted to pen a song that could be used word for word by someone who maybe can’t relay their emotions or knows how to put the words together themselves.”
“Slide” will appear on Marcel’s upcoming project, RNBAY SZN II, the sequel to his 2024 EP. “RNBAY SZN II is going to be a new take on the way I release music. It’s going to be a continuation of the wide variety of music the genre Sonny B. and I have strategically pieced together,” Marcel explains to Rated R&B.
“You’ll feel sexy, you’ll feel activated, you’ll feel love, and you’ll feel this Bay Area Energy. RNBAY SZN I was a teaser and sneak peek, if you will. This is where we completely open the vault.”
RNBAY SZN was released in July 2024 via RnBay Music Collective. The six-track set included features from rapper E-40, genre-bending artist Jane Handcock, DJ Drama and more.
