BJ The Chicago Kid and Eryn Allen Kane joined forces for a new song, “Make It Hot.”
The funk-tinged track, produced by Jarius “JMO” Mozee, is the lead single from the soundtrack for The Pickup starring Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson and Keke Palmer.
On “Make It Hot,” BJ and Eryn exchange flirty lines that burn with desire and shimmer with the allure of a summer sunset.
“So hot got my temp on a milli / My fly truth sound like lies, nah really I swear / I’m done if you down / If you with me can you…” BJ sings in the opening verse.
Eryn responds in verse two, singing, “Always getting everything I desire / You know I’m dangerous / It’s not wise to play to close to fire baby.”
As indicated above, “Make It Hot” is lifted from The Pickup soundtrack. The upcoming action-comedy film premieres Aug. 6 on Prime Video.
According to the film’s official synopsis, “A routine cash pickup takes a wild turn when two mismatched armored truck drivers, Russell (Eddie Murphy) and Travis (Pete Davidson), are ambushed by ruthless criminals led by a savvy mastermind, Zoe (Keke Palmer), with plans that go way beyond the cash cargo. As chaos unfolds around them, the unlikely duo must navigate high-risk danger, clashing personalities, and one very bad day that keeps getting worse.”
“Make It Hot” is BJ The Chicago Kid’s first single as the lead act since releasing his Gravy (Deluxe), a second helping of his 2023 album.
Released Oct. 4, 2024, the deluxe album featured three bonus tracks, including “Never Change (Remix)” with Ledisi and live renditions of “Crazy Love” featuring Andra Day and “Forgot Your Name” with Cory Henry.
BJ recently joined rising Death Row Records artist Jane Handcock on “Yes” from her second album, It’s Me, Not You.
As for Eryn Allen Kane, the vocalist released A Tree Planted by Water in 2019. It marked her first project since 2016’s Aviary: Act 2, the sequel to 2015’s Aviary: Act 1.
In 2023, the “Have Mercy” singer joined rapper Killer Mike on three songs from his Grammy-winning album Michael: “Science & Engineers” with Future and André, “NRICH” with 6LACK and “Motherless.”
