Teyana Taylor is officially an Oscar nominee. The award-winning actress and singer is up for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the 98th Oscars.
Taylor is nominated for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in the hit film One Battle After Another. She joins a category stacked with first-time nominees, including Elle Fanning (Rachel Kemp in Sentimental Value), Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (Agnes Borg Pettersen in Sentimental Value), and Wunmi Mosaku (Annie in Sinners). The category also includes two-time Oscar nominee Amy Madigan (Gladys in Weapons).
On Friday morning (Jan. 23), Taylor shared a reaction video on Instagram along with a statement. “OMGGGG!!!! This lil harlem girl had a big dream & now she is an @theacademy Award nominee!!!!!! I am so deeply emotional, so humbled, and so grateful for every person who has walked this road with me. My village, My prayer warriors!” she wrote.
She continued, “My career has been filled with battles, doubts, and moments of deep uncertainty. It has felt like one long fight for space, for respect, and for opportunity. But these moments feels like a gentle reminder that dreams really do survive… even when the journey is hard. This feels like a soft, beautiful “yes” from the universe.”
One Battle After Another is the second-most nominated film at the 2026 Oscars with 13 nods, trailing behind the Ryan Coogler-directed Sinners (16 nods).
Taylor’s One Battle After Another co-stars have also scored nominations, including Leonardo DiCaprio (Best Actor in a Leading Role), Benicio Del Toro (Best Actor in a Supporting Role) and Sean Penn (Best Actor in a Supporting Role).

Taylor’s Oscar nomination follows her first-time win at the Golden Globe Awards for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture. After winning the trophy, Taylor took to social media to reiterate her acceptance speech.
“And I’ll say it again.. Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. And our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter. Our dreams deserve space,” Taylor said on Instagram.”If this moment represents anything, I hope it reminds us that the wait is not punishment, it is preparation for what’s already written. What we endure does not diminish us… it refines us.”
In the same post, Taylor reflected on her journey and thanked the Golden Globes for “seeing” her. “I’ve been at this for 20 years, so this award doesn’t only represent this role… it represents every season, every sacrifice, every yes, every no, and all the love and life I’ve poured into my work and into others along the way,” she said.

Taylor is taking the awards season by storm. The Oscar-nominated actress is also nominated in six categories at the 2026 NAACP Image Awards, including Entertainer of the Year and Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture. “This recognition means everything because it comes from a community that sees me, holds me, and truly understands the work,” she said.
Meanwhile, Taylor’s visual album, Escape Room, is in the running for Best R&B Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards. “This is more than a story… it’s a place to break free,” she said of the album. By the looks of things, Taylor’s healing journey through Escape Room was necessary and is paying off.
The 2026 Oscars airs live on March 15 at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and Hulu.
