Emerging singer Elaine has released her new single “Fading Away.” She co-wrote it with Gallant, Spencer Stewart and STINT.
Produced by STINT, the downcast ballad hears a vulnerable Elaine chronicling the events leading up to a breakup.
“All the times you did me wrong but I still stuck around / All the things I did for you, oh, baby, why’d you let me down? / Put all my faith in us, why’d you have to leave me underground?” she sings on the heartwrenching tune.
“‘Fading Away’ is a narration of my experience watching someone I loved detach and the deterioration of the relationship that followed,” Elaine tells Rated R&B.

“Fading Away” is the South African singer’s third release of the year. It follows “Deja Vu” and “Shine.” All three songs will appear on Elaine’s forthcoming EP, which will release on Columbia Records.
“Expect a confession of my raw emotions, the tragic moments I encountered whilst navigating love and the process of healing,” Elaine says of her upcoming project. “For the most part, I had a case of the blues whilst making this project but I’ve since found a renewed perspective on it. The color now has a calming and tranquil influence on me and has evoked a rebirth in me and my creativity.”
Elaine’s new EP will follow her 2019 EP, Elements. She made history as the first independent artist to reach No. 1 on Apple Music’s Sub-Saharan African chart.
On Oct. 19, Elaine will headline the Sol Village R&B concert at SOB’s in New York City.
