The Black Music Honors has unveiled the lineup of performers for its eighth annual celebration, which will be taped live Friday, May 19, in Atlanta, Georgia.

The star-studded lineup will feature performances by R&B acts 702, Anthony Hamilton (with The Ton3s), Dave Hollister, Elle Varner, Kenny Lattimore, Lady Wray (formerly known as Nicole Wray), Lil’ Mo, Raheem DeVaughn, Robin Thicke, Sevyn Streeter, Tamar Braxton, Tweet, The Shindellas and LaTocha of Xscape.

Several gospel recording artists will hit the stage, as well, including Beverly Crawford, Tina Campbell, Kevin Lemons & Higher Calling, and more.

“As we come together to celebrate the rich cultural milestone that is Black Music Month, we get the unique opportunity to showcase the depth and breadth of talent within the Black music community,” says Founder and Executive Producer Don Jackson.

Jackson adds, “The vibrant future of Black music will be epitomized by captivating performances while spotlighting the unforgettable legacies of musical greats and their diverse contributions.”

The late Bobby Caldwell will be celebrated with a special tribute for his musical contribution as a songwriter and performer.

“Black music is the heartbeat of our culture, and the honorees for this years’ Black Music Honors represent the soul of American music. We pay homage to the musical innovators who have paved the way for future generations,” Jackson said in a previous statement.

“Our tribute performances not only celebrate the honorees of yesterday, but also showcase the influence and impact of their iconic sounds and styles on today’s artists with a beautiful symbiosis of past and present.”

As noted above, the 2023 Black Music Honors will be taped on May 19 at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia. LeToya Luckett and comedian DeRay Davis will return as co-hosts.

The ceremony will air Saturday, June 3, with national broadcast syndication from  June 10 – July 2. It will also air on Bounce TV on June 19.
