To be a fan of Tinashe is to know that she doesn’t leave you waiting too long for new tunes. The musical auteur has revealed her eighth album, Popstar, will release Sept. 25 via Atlantic Records.
The 16-track offering will include “Too Easy” and the newly shared single “Crash Out,” which Tinashe promoted earlier this week by smashing a car with a sledgehammer in Los Angeles — yes, she does her own stunts.
Produced by Couros, “Crash Out” hits with the same force Nashe used to burst the windows of the parked BMW. The West Coast-flavored bop finds the Cali native leaning into her cocky and confident side as she warns naysayers: “I’m about to lose it, but I don’t really care no more.”
“Crash Out” is accompanied by a music video directed by 91 Rules, where Tinashe and her troupe swang on scooters at night and perform hard-hitting choreography.
If “Too Easy” and “Crash Out” are any indication of what’s to come on Popstar, the album is bound to see Tinashe leaning fully and unapologetically into her greatness. She knows exactly who she is and can easily prove it without breaking a sweat.
Popstar is the follow-up to 2024’s Quantum Baby, which was the second installment of her album trilogy that began with 2023’s BB/ANG3L. The former album features her viral hit “Nasty” and the fan-favorite “No Broke Boys.” It’s worth noting that Popstar doesn’t appear to be part of that trilogy and lives in a world of its own.

Tinashe is expected to perform material from her new album at the All Things Go Music Festival on Sept. 27 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland.
Popstar will be available digitally, on CD and vinyl. The limited signed physical copies sold out immediately. However, fans can still preorder the Stardust vinyl and the standard CD while supplies last.
