Kiana Ledé recently stopped by Vevo Studios to perform her current “Deeper,” from her sophomore album, Grudges.
The rising R&B singer rocked a blonde wolf cut and wore an oversized chocolate-colored blazer with shoulder pads. She paired it with a matching colored-lace bra and accessorized with gold jewelry.
As Ledé and her band became more immersed in the performance, Ledé discarded the blazer and delivered an even more powerful rendition of the track in the lavender-hued space.
Ledé was showcased as a performer for Vevo’s LIFT and DSCVR series in 2019 while promoting her Selfless and Myself EP, the latter of which was also released that year.
“Deeper” was among the pre-release tracks from Ledé’s Grudges album. The intimate track features a co-writing and co-production from Nija Charles, one of the first Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical nominees at the 65th Grammy Awards.
Grudges dropped on June 16 via The Heavy Group/Republic Records. The album follows 2020’s KIKI (Deluxe) and its standard version. It includes the Ella Mai-assisted “Jealous” and “Irresponsible.”
Additional album guests include Bryson Tiller and Khalid, as well as a host of rising singers on the title track. These acts include Kyle Dion, Joyce Wrice, Destin Conrad and Sinéad Harnett.
Of the Grudges, Ledé told Rated R&B, “I’ve been through a lot of drama and trauma, but I am looking at everything from a more mature, balanced perspective. Music is a space that I like to have to get some relief, and you’ll definitely hear the space I’ve been in and the things I’ve been going through in the last two to three years.”
Ledé will support Grudges with a headlining North American tour of the same name. It starts Sept. 5 in Denver, Colorado, and concludes Oct. 12 in Chicago, Illinois. Tickets are on sale now.
Between those dates, Ledé is set to perform at H.E.R.’s Lights On Festival in Mountain View, California.
