Rising R&B singer JAHKOY has returned with Pretty Conversation, his second album of the year. He executive produced the album with Justin Wiggins.
The 11-track project includes the previously shared songs “More Than Anything” and “Man on Fire,” and includes features from Dende, Journee, and Kali Claire.
Pretty Conversation is steeped with 2000s-inspired tunes that explore the euphoric feeling of forging a deep emotional bond with someone.
The opening titular track featuring Claire instantly draws in listeners with its radio-ready chorus. “The way you turn me on / You’re the only one I want / From the night to break of dawn / We’re having pretty conversation,” JAHKOY sings.
“To My Bed,” produced by Dre Wollrabe and Malik, is as sensual as the title suggests. On the track, JAHKOY yearns for his partner’s touch between the sheets. “The way we’re switching positions / Your body drippin’,” he croons.
Songs like “More Than Anything” hear the Toronto native professing his feelings for his love interest: “I’d give you anything and everything / Just to be with you,” he sings.
JAHKOY keeps the steamy energy going through the closing track, “4 Letter Word,” which features fellow R&B singer Dende. Here, he tells a woman how much she keeps him aroused.
“Girl it’s been 60 seconds way too long / I’m ready to break you off / Let me in / I got no limits on my love / 200 miles I’m pulling up / Girl you remind me of that 4 letter word F-*-*-K / You know you turn me / Turn me freaky,” JAHKOY sings.
Regarding his new album, JAHKOY tells Rated R&B, “Pretty Conversation is a strong feeling of connection when you are getting to know someone, and the conversation is just flowing and you find yourself constantly thinking about this person and want to know more.”
He continues, “You want to know the good and bad about them, and all their perfect imperfections of what makes them who they are. It’s connecting on a more emotional and more mental level. Even during the times where you are not seeing eye to eye, everything will be good because you have each other.”
As noted above Pretty Conversation is JAHKOY’s second album of the year. In February, he released Healing Phase. Before that, in 2021, he released Tangible. The 14-song project featured Pleasure P, Fabolous, Ye Ali, Amaal, Lyfe Harris, Ryan Witherspoon and Allyn.
