Ethiopian-American artist Berhana has returned with his sophomore album, Amén: የዘላን ህልም (The Nomad’s Dream), via EGT Recordings.

The 12-track project includes the previously shared songs “Gone (Abebe Bikila),” “Like a Habit” and “Break Bread.” The first two of the trio were accompanied by accompanying visuals.

Berhana commented on the latter track in a previous statement: “It’s about finding someone I’m really into after taking a bunch of L’s, while at the same time having to remind myself to slow down.”

He continued, “The song moves between infatuation and caution until the bridge, where I finally let go.”

One of the standout tracks on Berhana’s latest album is “Don’t Go,” which details the idea of always having someone close to you, even when the world is against you.

When Rated R&B asked Berhana about the message he hopes his fans will take away from Amén: የዘላን ህልም, he responded: “I’m not sure I have anything specific I want people to take away. Maybe to trust themselves more, take pride in what makes them unique, and to listen to their dreams.”

Last night in Los Angeles, Berhana concluded his global screenings for The Nomad’s Dream, a short film featuring music from his new album. (It can be viewed below.)

Berhana will continue to promote his sophomore LP and his other previously released music at a show on Dec. 13 in Washington, D.C. Tickets are available on his official website.

Amén: የዘላን ህልም is the follow-up to Berhana’s 2019 debut album, Han. The 14-track album was recorded mainly with Canadian producer Pomo, with Berhana paying close attention to detail.

“When you have a full-length piece and something you want to be cohesive and feel like one thing, it’s important to pay attention to the little details. That’s what’s gonna make it special. With this, that was my only concern, making sure all the details were there,” Berhana said at the time in an interview with DJBooth.
