British R&B singer, songwriter and producer Aaron Taylor has released HAVE A NICE DAY! (Deluxe Version), an expanded edition of his EP released in May.
The updated project came with two previously released songs, “For Sure” and “Back To You.”
Taylor explained the former track “is about reassuring someone you love that what you have together can last forever despite the constant changes of life.”
Aside from the original five songs and two additions, the deluxe version of HAVE A NICE DAY! includes two more tracks: “Can’t Be Bothered” featuring Kota The Friend and “Rest Your Head.”
In the song “Can’t Be Bothered,” Taylor collaborates with Kota The Friend and vents about staying in a lane that’s comfortable for his lifestyle and pockets.
The final track “Rest Your Head” lives up to its name, with a soothing backing choir that could calm even the most restless listener to sleep.
Speaking on HAVE A NICE DAY! (Deluxe Version), Taylor says, “Somewhat unintentionally, the songs from HAVE A NICE DAY! focus on a ‘take-it-easy’ theme and being OK with the ebbs and flows of life. I imagine it as a soundtrack to a day in someone’s life: whether it’s the optimism of the title track that comes with a brand new day, the coffee in the morning to get you going, the afternoon lull where you ‘can’t be bothered’ or even the need to ‘rest your head’ when the day is done.”
Taylor continues, “I think somewhat subconsciously for me in creating HAVE A NICE DAY!, there was a desire to enjoy the music-making journey again, post-pandemic, hence the theme of just quietly enjoying life one day at a time. These songs are what came out as I sat down to play and create without any pressure. It was almost like a letter from my subconscious to my cognitive mind…reminding me not to take life or myself too seriously.”
HAVE A NICE DAY! (Deluxe Version) is Taylor’s first new release since the original EP and his 2020 debut, ICARUS, which was later extended in 2021.
ICARUS had a gorgeous feature from Lalah Hathaway and was featured on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2020 list.
“In creating clearance for listeners to embrace positivity, even in uncomfortable situations, Taylor champions every aspect that comes with that journey,” Rated R&B’s Danielle Brissett said of ICARUS at year-end in 2020.
