Teddy Swims has achieved a new milestone on Billboard this week with his breakout single “Lose Control.”
The retro-soul track moves up from No. 2 to No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart. It marks Swims’ first No. 1 on this chart.
At R&B radio, “Lose Control” advances from No. 2 to No. 1 with 2,079 spins for an audience impression of 8.5 million, according to Mediabase.
Circling back to Billboard, “Lose Control” is No. 8 this week on the Hot 100. It previously reached No. 1 in March, earning Swims his first chart-topper. On the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, “Lose Control” is No. 9 and No. 26 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay.
Produced by Ammo and Julian Bunetta, “Lose Control” is lifted from Swims’ debut album, I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1), released Sept. 15, 2023, via Warner Records.
“Being in love can be like an addiction sometimes — always chasing the highs from the lows,” Swims said of the track. “It’s about losing yourself and losing control when it all starts to cave in and thinking that the only way out is through being with that person, chasing that feeling over and over again.”
Regarding I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy, he noted, “My debut album is an honest look into my mental health journey. It is my first step towards being vulnerable about this journey and the steps I need to take to heal.”
On April 26, Teddy Swims released an extended version of his debut album, I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1.5), which included four new tracks.
“I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (1.5) is an extension to Part 1 of the album — this whole album is just me being honest,” Swims stated. “You know, I’ve been touring, writing, and continuing to work on myself over the past 8 months and wanted to share something like a real-life check-in. These songs represent where I’m at and I didn’t want to wait till I had the whole part 2 done — so here you go.”
