Editor’s Note: D’Angelo has pulled out of Roots Picnic as a headliner and Maxwell will take his spot.
The lineup for Roots Picnic 2025 has been announced. The two-day festival returns May 31–June 1 at The Mann in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia.
Neo-soul icon D’Angelo will headline this year’s festival alongside The Roots. The singer, songwriter and musician previously performed at the Roots Picnic in 2016 in New York City.
Legendary artist Lenny Kravitz, who released his last album Blue Electric Light in 2024, is also at the top of the bill, as well as Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill.
The 2025 Roots Picnic lineup also includes Miguel, Musiq Soulchild, GloRilla, Jeezy, Kaytranada, Jagged Edge, and Tems, among others.
A few acts will be commemorate milestone anniversaries. Soulchild will celebrate the 25th anniversary of his debut album, Aijuswanaseing, while Jagged Edge will celebrate 25 years of their second album, J.E. Heartbreak. The latter group will be joined by award-winning music director and musician Adam Blackstone.
Meanwhile, The Roots will honor the 30th anniversary of their sophomore album Do You Want More?!!!??!
In addition to live performances, Roots Picnic attendees can also enjoy the festival’s newly-established day party. This year’s lineup includes Trap Karaoke, Chill Vibes featuring DJ Active, Doo-Wop …That R&B Party, Dear Summer Festival, Kirk Franklin’s Sunday School w/ DJ Mal-Ski, Philly Black Pride, and more.
Presale tickets will be available Tuesday (Feb. 18) at 10 a.m. ET through Thursday (Feb. 20) at 11:59 p.m. ET. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (Feb. 21) at 10 a.m. ET.
Last year’s sold-out Roots Picnic featured performances by André 3000, Babyface, Jill Scott, Victoria Monét, Lil Wayne, Leon Thomas, and more.
