Lifetime has announced its new original movie Fame: A Temptations Story starring Keri Hilson and Keshia Chanté.

The film, premiering April 26 at 8 p.m. ET, is part of the network’s new Temptations movie franchise, executive produced by Derrick Williams and Adriane Hopper Williams for DNA Media Group.

Fame follows the Jordan sisters — Cherish (Hilson) and Roxy (Chanté) — who are a popular singing duo with a behind-the-scenes sibling rivalry.

According to the logline, “After returning to their hotel one night, the sisters’ penthouse is the target of a frightening jewel heist. Investigators believe the robbery was an inside job, and rumors spread that Roxy secretly planned and staged the crime. Will the sisters put aside their lust for the spotlight, or will they let their temptation for fame tear them apart for good?”

Fame also stars Romeo Miller (Honey, Jumping the Broom), Ecstasia Sanders (Final Destination 3, Dr. Dolittle 3), Nathan Witte (Batwoman, Greed: A Seven Deadly Sins Story), Veronica Long (Billy the Kid, Upload), Reese Alexander (The Interview, Riverdale), and Sophie Carriere (Goosebumps, The Girl Who Escaped).

Before Fame airs, Lifetime will premiere Desire: A Temptations Story on April 19 at 8 p.m. ET. The first installment of the movie franchise stars Tasha Smith (For Better or Worse, Why Did I Get Married?) and Adrian Holmes (Bel-Air, Skyscraper).

Per the logline, “Desire follows inspirational talk show host Kendra (Smith), who is at the top of her game when she faces the tragic loss of her mother. At the urging of her team, Kendra takes time off to heal her soul, and while on vacation, Kendra meets the man of her dreams, Malcolm (Holmes).

Taken by his charm and good looks, Kendra gives into her desires and becomes caught up in a whirlwind romance and spontaneously marries Malcolm. Once the newlyweds return home, truths about Malcolm’s past start to come to light and he leads Kendra down a dangerous path.”

Hilson’s upcoming role in Fame is her second Lifetime original movie. In 2022, she starred in Lust: A Deadly Sins Saga alongside Tank, LeToya Luckett and Clifton Powell. Before that, she starred in TV One’s Don’t Waste Your Pretty (2021).

In other news, Hilson has been teasing her musical return.

On March 16, the singer-songwriter launched We Need To Talk, a series of skits where she contemplates thoughts that have been weighing on her about making a comeback. At the end of each clip, a snippet of a new track plays.

“I just don’t want to put me, my life, or my art into the hands of people who don’t give a f—k about me,” Hilson told herself in episode one. “And the thing is, I don’t fear being human. I love being human in my own hands. I fear being human in their hands,” she continued. “I want to be back in the game. I want to be at the top. But I still want to feel like I belong to myself.

In the latest installment, episode four, she vents to herself about social media’s impact on the music industry and the pressure on artists to pour their energy not only into their music but also into their social media feeds: “I don’t want to be a content creator. I don’t want to schedule my life according to the algorithm. I’m not even that social on social media. I don’t want to talk about my love life when I’m supposed to be promoting my music.”

Hilson’s last album, No Boys Allowed, was released in 2010. It was the follow-up to her debut album, In A Perfect World…, released March 24, 2009.

As for Keshia Chanté, the Canadian singer released her album Unbound 02 in 2018. It included the popular tracks “Bryson Tiller” and “Lights Out.”

In August 2024, Sony Music Canada reissued her self-titled debut album with a special deluxe edition to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The expanded set included remastered original recordings and three remixes.

Released in 2004, Keshia Chanté included her No. 1 Candian hit “Unpredictable” and the Foxy Brown-featured “Does He Love Me.”
