Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Keri Hilson has released We Need To Talk: DRAMA, the second installment of her three-act album.

DRAMA picks up where LOVE left off. As the title suggests, DRAMA addresses the chaotic side of romance.

The opening track, “Drama – Intelude,” sets the scene for part two. Hilson calls her lover to confront him about cheating after she ran into the supposed sidepiece who tipped her off with receipts of their relations. “She told me that y’all f*****d. She told me the dates, the times, y’all pictures. Yeah, she handed me her phone and let me scroll through the whole year.”

“Bitches (Concerned)” underscores her hunch that her man was being unfaithful. “You don’t even know I look for numbers when I wash your jeans,” she sings on the Camper production.

On “Sorry (Fess Up),” also produced by Camper, Hilson officially calls things off after giving him ample opportunities to tell the truth. “Never thought you would do me like that,” she says at the end of the track, with betrayal echoing in her voice.

The bass-heavy “1 Hunnit,” Young Thug and Pastor Troy, doubles down on her dismissal with glimmers of confidence. Ending with “Again,” Hilson acknowledges her cycle of leaving only to return: “I pack my bags and leave and I come right back again.”

In an exclusive interview with Rated R&B, Hilson mentioned that DRAMA was the easiest installment for her to write out of LOVE and REDEMPTION. “I had so many songs from the drama to choose from for some reason,” she shared. “I realized early as a songwriter that heartbreak is so much easier to write about because it’s real thoughts. We had to kind of edit and take things that fit the story, sonically pleasing to me and honest.”

As noted above, DRAMA follows We Need To Talk: LOVE, which was released April 18 via Audible Art Club/Create Music Group. The latter part includes the lead single, “Bae,” and the Method Man-assisted single “Searchin.”
