As Raye prepares to release her new album, This Music May Contain Hope, on March 27, the genre-bending singer has unveiled a new track, “Nightingale Lane.”
On the bluesy, five-minute ballad, Raye reflects on the greatest heartbreak she’s ever known. She traces the journey from a beer-stained goodbye kiss to the years spent healing in its aftermath.
“And looking back now / We never were quite right for each other, baby / But in the absence of passion in my life / I remember how alive love once was,” she sings.
The aching track captures how certain places are bound to a cache of memory we simply can’t clear. Even though we find healing, we don’t always lose those scars. Yet, as painful as the song is, lyrics like “I’m capable of loving someone the way I loved you” suggest Raye hasn’t given up on love. If anything, she knows what she’s lost only makes space for what’s to come — a dose of hope lent from the album’s title.
Raye co-wrote and co-produced “Nightingale Lane” alongside Tom Richards, with additional composition from Chris Hill. It follows the lead single, “Where Is My Husband!” which peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 so far.
The latter smash, released Sept. 19, 2025, was certified platinum earlier this month for selling over 1 million units in the U.S. It marks her second platinum hit since 2022’s “Escapism” with 070 Shake, certified 2x platinum in 2024.
As mentioned above, This Music May Contain Hope will arrive in late March via Human Re Sources. It will follow her 2023 debut LP, My 21st Century Blues. Since then, Raye has released two albums, including Live at the Royal Albert Hall (2023) and Love at Montreaux Jazz Festival (2024).
The British star is currently on her sold-out This Tour May Contain New Music with her sisters Amma and Absolutely. Her upcoming stops include shows in London and Dublin.
On March 31, she will launch the North American leg of the tour in Sacramento and will wrap up May 13 in Los Angeles. In late August, she will join Bruno Mars as a special guest on The Romantic Tour, with performances through mid-October.
