Eric Benét isn’t shy about using his platform to challenge the political system. Check his Instagram or TikTok, and you’re bound to see him calling out everything from the Trump administration’s corruption to the lack of transparency surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein files.

In his powerful new single “Who’s Gonna Save Us?” produced by Camper, Benét turns a rhetorical question into a call to action. In the opening verse, he underscores capitalism’s role in the food we consume and the health issues that keep certain companies in business. “The people suffer from disease / You know it’s from the food they eat,” he sings, before closing it with, “‘Cause business won’t do well without sickness in the hood.”

Benét dedicates the second verse to criticizing pointless wars, pollution and white supremacy. “That sh*t is so cancerous, but send your ballot in for who?” he sings.

Ahead of releasing “Who’s Gonna Save Us?” Benét shared a video on social media explaining its meaning. “This song is really about the consciousness of being aware of what’s happening and also the fact that if we, the people, unite our voices, we are much stronger than they could’ve ever imagined that we will be,” he said. “Vocally, I feel like I channeled Curtis Mayfield. It’s definitely a throwback to the human rights and the voting rights battles that we’ve already fought 40 to 60 years ago. It seems like they’re all back.”

He concluded, “This song is like a warning that if we don’t fight for those rights that we believe are inalienable, then they’ll be taken from us, so use your voice, use your power, let’s unite, let’s support each other. Your silence is their power.”

In a separate statement, Benét said, “This song came from reflecting on the world around us and the questions so many people are quietly carrying. Sometimes we’re all searching for answers, for hope, for healing and for something that reminds us we’re not alone. I wanted this song to feel honest and human, something people could truly connect to.”

“Who’s Gonna Save Us?” will appear on Benét’s upcoming solo album, which will follow his 2016 self-titled LP. In 2025, he released his duets album, The Co-Star, via his label JBR Creative Group. It included his No. 1 R&B hits “Something We Can Make Love To” with Tamar Braxton and “So Distracted” with Chanté Moore. The album featured additional collaborations with India.Arie, Keri Hilson, Melanie Fiona, Ari Lennox, and Alex Isley, among others.

In an interview with Rated R&B, Benét confirmed his next album was already in the works. He also teased a holiday album, which was ultimately released in October 2025. “We’ve already started the new Eric Benét solo album, which is crazy because we got at least another single off The Co-Star album,” he told Rated R&B. “And here’s the gag: I think I’m going to go in and do a Christmas record too. So it’s a lot of creative energy.”

A release date for Benét’s new album has not been announced yet.
