Tone Stith is making major strides this era.
His single “Fly” rises from No. 2 to No. 1 this week on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, ending R&B group Sentury‘s one-week stay with “Forever.”
Released Dec. 12, 2025, “Fly” debuted on the Adult R&B Airplay chart dated Feb. 2. It reached the top 10 on the chart dated April 4, which was led by Tank‘s “Control” at the time.
“Fly” is Stith’s first No. 1 hit on the Adult R&B Airplay chart. He previously visited the top 10 area with “Waiting On You,” his 2024 collaboration with producer Camper, which peaked at No. 4.
“It’s been a long journey to get here,” said Stith. “To see ‘Fly’ reach number one and feel the love from radio and the fans means everything.”
Elsewhere on Billboard this week, “Fly” rises from No. 18 to No. 13 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and debuts at No. 21 on Hot R&B Songs.
Meanwhile, on Mediabase’s R&B radio chart, “Fly” leaps from No. 3 to No. 1, tallying 1,894 spins (up 261 from last week) and 7.46 million audience impressions.
Regarding “Fly,” Stith told Rated R&B, “First, I got to shout out my producers and my core team, [Kenneth “KP” Paige], Brody Brown and B Ham. I’m known for making a lot of love songs, and that’s fine. But I think going through life in a more real way started to give me a different perspective, like, ‘OK, my music has to mean something.’ It’s about legacy for me. When I’m gone, what’s going to be left behind?”
He added, “‘Fly’ is amazing because this is the first song where I’m not speaking about love. I’m speaking a hundred percent truth on what I’ve gone through and what I’ve had to overcome in my life. At a certain point, it was like, ‘Man, I got to trust my instinct, take that leap of faith and just fly with it.”
“Fly” will appear on Stith’s forthcoming album, The Edge, slated to arrive May 15 via MNRK Records. It will mark his first project since signing with the label and the follow-up to his 2023 EP, P.O.V.
