Besides bringing soul food to the 2014 SXSW (literally), Kelis also brought new music. During NPR Music’s SXSW Showcase at Stubb’s, the underrated singer served the audience her new song called “Breakfast.” Backed by two background vocalists and a live band, Kelis sang until she was drenched in sweat.
“Wanna say thank you/ You’re more than just a man/ You really been my friend/ And I wanna say thank you for putting me to the test/ When you know you could’ve left me behind,” Kelis sings.
“Breakfast” is lifted from Kelis’ forthcoming album, “Food,” due in stores on April 22.
