After years of rumors, an Aaliyah biopic is finally coming to life.
Disney actress and singer Zendaya Coleman has been enlisted to portray Aaliyah in the upcoming Lifetime biopic “Aaliyah: Princess of R&B.”
Coleman, best known for her role as Rocky Blue on Disney’s hit show “Shake It Up,” confirmed the news on Twitter with a special message.
She’s been an inspiration and influence in my whole career, her talent still shines brighter then ever, all I wanna do is honor her…Show how much she accomplished in only 22 years….she’s beautiful inside and there will never be another Aaliyah, I just hope to share her beautiful story, and make her proud up in heaven #babygirl #forever #OneInAMillion
Coleman will also record four of Aaliyah’s songs for the film, which is based on the bestseller “Aaliyah: More Than a Woman.”
“Aaliyah: Princess of R&B” will be filmed this summer and is expected to premiere later this year.
