Nine-time Grammy Award winning artist Mary J. Blige begins the official promotional trail for her “London Sessions” album with a heartfelt piano-driven ballad titled “Whole Damn Year.”
Co-written by British bred singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé, the emotional track hears Blige informing her new man that she’s still in a fragile state after her last relationship. She explains to him that “Winter took most of my heart, and spring punch me right in the stomach/summer came looking for blood and by autumn I was left with nothing/It took a whole damn year to repair my body/It took a whole damn year.”
“Whole Damn Year” serves as the single for urban/urban adult contemporary radio format.
Blige’s “London Sessions” album is scheduled to arrive on November 24 in the UK and December 2 in the States.
