August Alsina is still giving his testimony. The “I Luv This Sh-t” singer has released a new song called “Hip-Hop.”
Sampling Naughty by Nature’s ’90s classic “Hip Hop Hooray,” the transparent singer recaps his troubled upbringing in the streets of New Orleans, Louisiana. With those dark days behind him, Alsina looks ahead with positive thoughts guiding his way. “I pray for more better days / I know that I can feel change,” sings Alsina.
There isn’t any word on where “Hip-Hop” will end up. However, we’re sure his fans are hoping it will appear on the follow-up to Alsina’s debut album, Testimony. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, after selling 67,000 copies in its first week sales.
