Ashanti gave her mom the ultimate Mother’s Day gift. The Grammy Award winning singer took the Good Day NY stage on Sunday to perform a touching song, co-penned by Babyface, for her mother.
Before singing her heart out, Ashanti and her mother discussed their lasting relationship as artist and manager with the co-hosts. “We just have an amazing relationship,” said Ashanti. “We’re best friends. It’s not like a dictatorship.”
Mom adds, “I communicate, not dictate.”
Ashanti later shared details about the follow-up to her 2014 release, Braveheart, which is slated to arrive later this year. “I’ve been recording with some amazing producers, up and coming new rappers from LA.”
The first single from the new album will be released this summer.
