New Edition were the trailblazers for boy bands everywhere, and will soon have their story told on the silver screen.
During the 2016 BET Awards, the network revealed the first trailer for the boy band’s biopic slated for 2017. It will be a three-part mini series, chronicling New Edition’s journey from Boston beginnings to international stardom.
The series will feature “Empire” star Bryshere Gray as Michael Bivins, Woody McClain as Bobby Brown, Keith Powers as Ronnie Devoe, Algee Smith as Ralph Tresvant, Elijah Kelly as Ricky Bell and singer-songwriter Luke James will be Johnny Gill. Additional cast includes Michael Rapaport and La La Anthony.
The series was co-produced by the members of New Edition and former manager Brooke Payne.
