If you follow Mya on Instagram, you will see how passionate she is about health and wellness. From time to time, the Grammy award winning singer will share photos of healthy meals she’s made. Continuing her pledge to live a healthy life, Mya has teamed with PETA for its Go Vegan campaign.
Known for her youthful looks and glowing skin, the 37-year-old is finally giving up the secret to her fountain of youth looks and amazing body. Mya has lost 30 pounds by going vegan and continues to shatter the stereotypes that have people thinking vegans only eat lettuce and women can’t possibly keep their curves.
“Veganism started off as a will power challenge for me from vegetarianism,” she tells PETA. “I’d never tried vegan before. I’d done many cleanses but this is the next step.”
She continues, “It’s done wonders for my entire life. Some of the changes I’ve experienced being vegan — I’m no longer anemic…I no longer get sick…my skin is clear, I lost 30 pounds, I don’t have to go to the gym as much (laughs) and I just have clarity like I mentioned before. Everything in my life has benefited me just eating natural foods.”
In addition to her involvement in PETA’s campaign, the D.C. native has also launched her own line of vegan wine called Planet 9 Fine Wine.
In other news, Mya is gearing up for the third leg of her Planet 9 World Tour in Australia. The tour is in support of her latest album, Smoove Jones, which released earlier this year.
