Jason Derulo teams up with Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla Sign for his new single “Swalla.” The Caribbean-flavored track finds Derulo and Dolla Sign singing about their fun experiences with women.
“All you girls in here, if you’re feeling thirsty / Come on take a sip ’cause you know what I’m servin’, ooh,” Derulo sings. Dolla Sign adds, “When she back it up, put it on the Snap / When she droppin’ low, put it on the Gram / DJ poppin’, she gon’ swallow that / Champagne poppin’, she gon’ swallow that.”
Minaj follows-up with a hot verse, where she throws a little a shade at an unnamed female rapper. “I gave these b*tches two years, now your time’s up / Bless her heart, she throwing shots but every line sucks / I’m in that cherry red foreign with the brown guts,” she raps.
In an interview with Billboard, Derulo said his collaboration with Nicki and Ty was purely organic. “I never believe in forcing a collaboration. You know, I’m a fan of both of theirs and I thought that they fit the track perfectly. It’s one of those ones that’ll get you up and doing your thing. I feel like it’s gonna stick out on the radio. There’s nothing that sounds like it,” he said.
“Swalla” is the first single from Derulo’s upcoming fourth studio album that is slated to release later this year.
