It’s been a long time coming but after 10 years, the Sly and the Family Stone documentary, “Dance To The Streaming Music,” is wrapping up and is slated to premiere this year, according to Deadline.
The feature documentary will highlight the group’s influence on funk, rock and soul music throughout their journey in the music industry. It will also include exclusive interviews and footage from the band members, as well as other artists who have been impacted by the pioneering funk band.
“Dance To The Streaming Music” is directed by independent filmmaker Brady Spensor, who met and befriended Sly Stone in 2008 after Sly’s son connected the two, eventually pitching the documentary to Sly over the phone. “When I was big enough to reach the piano, I thought that everybody had to do it in the world. This documentary is a chance to share my story with all the wide-eyed dreamers,” he told Deadline.
In addition to winning his royalty lawsuit in 2015, the documentary couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.
