After making Best R&B Song history at the 2019 Grammys, Ella Mai stopped by Ellen to perform a medley of hits from her self-titled album.
Wearing an oversized black two-piece suit, the British singer rocked the crowd first with “Shot Clock.” She requested the Ellen audience to make noise as she switched melodies to “Boo’d Up,” her breakout hit.
As previously mentioned, Mai won her first Grammy for Best R&B Song (“Boo’d Up”) on Sunday night. Her win made her the second female performer to earn the trophy (without a feature) this decade. She joins Beyoncé, who was the last female artist to do so when her hit record “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” won in 2010.
Today, Mai will launch the North American leg of The Debut Tour in Vancouver, British Columbia. Rated R&B’s artists to watch in 2019 Lucky Daye and Kiana Ledé are supporting acts for the U.S. trek. The former artist recently released II, his latest EP, while Ledé dropped an acoustic version of “Ex” off her Selfless EP.
