Lizzo’s Cuz I Love You album is as good as gold. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) reports the breakout star’s debut album is now certified gold with over 500,000 equivalent units sold.
This gold certification bulletin comes just one week after Lizzo made history as the first Black solo female R&B artist to score a number one single (“Truth Hurts”) on the Hot 100 since Rihanna’s “Diamonds” in 2012. Lizzo is also one of 12 female R&B acts to notch a solo Hot 100 hit in the last 20 years.
In August, the fan-favorite bop became a double-platinum single two years after its initial digital drop. Lizzo also received gold plaques for “Juice” and “Good As Hell,” which both appear on Cuz I Love You.
Lizzo, who stars in the new strip club drama Hustlers, just kicked off the second leg of her Cuz I Love You Tour, with special guests Ari Lennox, Empress Of, and DJ Sophia Eris. She can also be seen at the Austin City Limits Festival in October.
In magazine news, Lizzo graces the cover of the October edition of Elle. The issue will be on newsstands on September 26.
