Today, Dawn Richard surprised fans with a new song titled “On A String.” The Druski produced ballad finds Richard singing about no longer being a puppet in her relationship.
“You gave me a stage but you stole the lead/ said I would be much better behind the scenes/ living on your string, I’m off your string,” Richard sings.
Richard is due to release her debut album, GoldenHeart on January 15. The album was originally scheduled to release in October. However, Richard announced that the album has been delayed — since she inked a distribution deal with Altavoz Distribution.
“We have just signed with Altavoz Distribution, which will allow us to have the record ‘GoldenHeart’ in every store—from Best Buy to Target to the mom and pop stores,” Richard said. “This is exactly what we needed to expand the brand. It’s a movement.”
Dawn Richard never fails to amaze. Her soft tone coupled with her lyrical content make this song very easy to listen to. We are looking forward to her new album at the top of the year.
