Keyshia Cole was the musical guest on Monday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! The R&B songstress performed her freshly released single “You” with help from her collaborators Remy Ma and French Montana.
Dressed in an all white ensemble, Cole performed a clean version of the breakup anthem for the first time on television. “You picked the wrong one / You just played me for the last time / I’m done dealing with you,” she sang.
Cole returned to the stage to debut a new ballad called “Incapable,” which samples Rose Royce’s 1976 classic “I’m Goin’ Down.” Resting on a white chair in front of a colorful back, Cole performed the emotional song. “Every time it feels like this could be the last time / What’s the good in goodbye? / If I give this one more try / It’s hard because they say that true love never dies,” she sang.
“You” and “Incapable” are lifted from Cole’s forthcoming album, 1 1 1 1 Reset, which will release this year via Epic Records.
In a recent interview with Rap-Up, Cole explained the meaning behind the album title. “I wanted to put [1111] on the album because it’s been everywhere,” she said. “For the past year, I’ve been seeing 1111 constantly and to my understanding, you’re aligned spiritually with your destiny and everything that is meant to be in your life is happening at the right time. The timing is right. Everything is right. Reset is definitely cohesive with that.”
Cole will be making more television appearances in the coming weeks. She is scheduled to visit The Real on February 7.
