After much anticipation, Beyoncé has released the official video for her song “Countdown.”
Beyoncé co-directed the vibrant visual with Adria Petty, who also directed her “Sweet Dreams” video in 2009.
“Beyoncé really put a lot of her own energy into it as director and really really added a lot and made a lot of decision-making on the finished product,” Petty told GQ.
“And I think that she did a really great job. She put obviously a lot of thought and a lot of energy into it. That’s a very new development for her. She always cares and she’s always very involved and opinionated about stuff in a really cool way, in a way that actually makes you want to go to work for her ’cause she’s so smart.”
Beyoncé co-produced “Countdown” with Shea Taylor. The song, which features a writing credit from The-Dream, is lifted from her latest album, 4.
The album was released June 24 via Columbia Records. 4 also includes “Party” featuring André and “Run the World (Girls).”
4 debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling over 310,000 copies in the first week.
