American Idol winner Ruben Studdard returns with a new song called “June 28th (I’m Single).”
It’s the lead single from Studdard’s forthcoming album, Letters From Birmingham, expected to be released in March via Shanachie Records. The song was actually inspired by Studdard’s divorce from his wife after being married for three years.
In the heartfelt song, Studdard lets his ex know that he will miss her but, he’s moving on and he lets the ladies know that he is single and ready to mingle.
“On June 28th I was saying ‘I do’ to my bride. And two years later in October, we said goodbye.”
From the production to the lyrics, “June 28th” is a solid R&B song with an emphasis on the blues. Furthermore, it’s one of those songs that many people can relate to, which is always a plus.
