Usher is coming to TV! The R&B-pop megastar will be replacing Cee-Lo Green as a coach and judge on the upcoming cycle of NBC’s “The Voice.” Shakira will also be on the show, replacing current coach Christina Aguilera. Reportedly, Cee-Lo Green and Christina Aguilera are taking time to focus on other projects. The big news was announced on Monday (Sept. 17) by Robert Greenblatt, chair at NBC Entertainment.
“We are thrilled to welcome Usher and Shakira to ‘The Voice.’ The addition of these popular iconic artists continues the tradition established by Christina, CeeLo, Adam and Blake,” Greenblatt said in a statement. “Doing two back-to-back cycles of this show requires a tremendous amount of time, and we are happy to accommodate the commitments made by Christina and CeeLo. The participants on our show benefit from our coaches’ expertise and their continued success in the music business allows for significant new contributions to the contestants when they return.”
Currently, there is not a premiere date for the forthcoming cycle. Stay tuned, though.
