Bruno Mars fans can expect new music from the crooner sooner rather later. The Hawaii native has revealed the title of his sophomore album which is Unorthodox Jukebox set to release on December 11 via Atlantic Records. The album’s lead single, “Locked Out of Heaven,” is scheduled to premiere digitally and on radio on October 1.
Unorthodox Jukebox is the follow up to Mars’ debut effort, “Doo-Wops and Hooligans.” It will include production credit from heavyweights like Mark Ronson, Jeff Bhasker, Emile Haynie, Diplo, Supa Dups, and the Smeezingtons.
Mars exclusively told Billboard Magazine that his new album represents his freedom. “This is me going into the studio and recording and writing whatever I want,” says Mars.
Mars revealed that there was a little drama between him and his record label concerning his direction onUnorthodox Jukebox “I’ve had big record label presidents look me in the face and say, ‘Your music sucks, you don’t know who you are, your music is all over the place, and we don’t know how to market this stuff. Pick a lane and come back to us,'” he tells Billboard. “That was disgusting to me, because I’m not trying to be a circus act.”
