Get the party started! VH1 has announced the performers for their 2012 “VH1 Divas,” which will take place on Sun, Dec. 16 at 9PM EST in Los Angeles. This year’s show, hosted by Adam Lambert, will celebrate dance-inducing music with performances from R&B-pop artists including Kelly Rowland, Jordin Sparks, and Ciara.
The show will include a tribute to the late Whitney Houston and Donna Summer, who were both influential to R&B-dance pop music.
“VH1 Divas” will benefit the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping music education alive in American public schools.
Premiering on VH1 in 1998, “Divas” became synonymous with some of the most memorable, live, female vocal performances in television history. The show quickly became a highly anticipated annual phenomenon, generating speculation among music fans and industry executives on who would be part of that year’s telecast.
Last year, the “Divas” paid tribute to the great cities of Soul Music including: Chicago, Detroit, London, Memphis and Philadelphia with “Divas Celebrates Soul” featuring Mary J, Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Chaka Khan, and Jill Scott.
