Michelle Williams will soon make a comeback to a play stage!
It was recently announced that Williams will join the latest national tour of the musical Fela, which was produced by Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and Ruth and Stephen Hendel.
The former Destiny’s Child singer will play Sandra Isadore, who is the love interest to Fela Kuti — a Nigerian musician who pioneered Afrobeat music.
The tour, which kicks off on January 29, will play in 16 cities in the United States including Washington, D.C, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, and Los Angeles.
Williams took it to Twitter to announce her excitement. “Excited to announce that I will be joining the National Tour of FELA!!!!! Yeah Yeah,” she tweeted.
Williams also starred as Shug Avery in the national tour of The Color Purple, and as Roxie Hart in Chicago: The Musical.
