Justin Timberlake’s new album, The 20/20 Experience,  shatters the Billboard 200 chart, selling 968,000 copies in its first week of sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album debuted at number on Billboard, making it Timerblake’s second No.1 album and best-selling solo debut to date.

The 20/20 Experience follows his 2006 release FutureSex/LoveSounds, which debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 with 684,000 copies sold during its first week of sales. His debut album Justified debuted and peaked at No. 2 with 439,000 copies sold.

According to Billboard, Timberlake made history with his latest release. His sales are the 19th largest week for an album since the birth of SoundScan in 1991. The all-time best-selling week was when Timberlake’s former group, ‘N Sync, saw its No Strings Attached  album debut with 2.42 million at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in April 2000.

Timberlake recently revealed that a follow-up to The 20/20 Experience is in the works and will be due later this year. The “Suit & Tie” singer will kick off his Legends of the Summer stadium tour with Jay-Z, starting July 17.
