Janelle Monáe has teamed up with Erykah Badu for her new single, “Q.U.E.E.N.” The funky tune is the lead single from Monáe’s forthcoming album, The Electric Lady.
Badu appears in the fourth verse, singing, “Ooh, shake ’til the break of dawn / Don’t mean to sing so tough, I can’t take it no more / Baby, me and tuxedo groove Pharaohs and E. Badu / Crazy in the black and white / We got the drums so tight / Baby, here comes your freedom song.”
“Q.U.E.E.N. was inspired by private discussions between Erykah and me. It is meant to make you JAM. DANCE. FUNK OUT. and dialogue later…,” Monáe tweeted.
“Every album is a book. Every song is a chapter. The next book is called The Electric Lady. The first chapter is called Q.U.E.E.N.,” she continued.
Monae’s sophomore studio album, The Electric Lady, follows the “Tightrope” singer’s 2010 album, The ArchAndroid.
