Good things don’t last forever. Mariah Carey has announced that she will not be returning to “American Idol” next season. Instead, she is gearing up for her world tour, which is set to kick off in October in Asia.
Carey’s public relations rep confirmed the news on Twitter. “W/ global success of “#Beautiful” (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol http://mariahcarey.com,” tweeted PMK-BNC.
“#Beautiful,” which features Miguel, is the first single off Carey’s 13th studio album, due this year. As of today (May 31), the ballad sits at the No. 2 position on Billboard’s R&B Songs Chart; No. 4 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart; and No. 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
The blazing single is on its way to Gold status with 300,596 downloads to date.
