R&B/soul stars Jill Scott and Ne-Yo have been announced as performers for Philadelphia’s 2013 Wawa Welcome America! Festival. The annual event, hosted this year by Kevin Hart, will take place on July 4.
Other non-R&B performers include The Roots, John Mayer, Demi Lovato, Grace Potter and J. Cole, along with other surprise guests.
An additional performance by Marsha Ambrosius will take place on July 6 during the Taste of Philadelphia.
“The City of Philadelphia is proud to welcome an incredibly talented group of musicians to our city this Fourth of July,” said Philadelphia’s Mayor, Micheal A. Nutter. “We believe that this year’s festival will go down in history as the best yet. We know that Philadelphia is the foremost place to celebrate our nation’s birthday. With this superb lineup of talent, we have an opportunity to prove it to the world.”
For those who can’t make it to the festival this year, it will simulcast live on VH1 and Palladia from 8-11 pm ET.
